We Miss our Oregon Friends!!

Amanda has returned to Oregon as scheduled. She spent three months with our family helping us to get the kids settled and helping us to homeschool our small tribe. It was a tough job and we are thankful she survived! We are praying for homeschooling help for our family. Another missionary lady, Joan, is praying about moving here for one year beginning the end of January. Please join us in prayer as we prepare for transitions both for our family and for those that come along side us to help! 

We were blessed to get to know Amanda's amazing friend Danalyza on this past team. Her grocery stocking experience came in handy while we were trying to shelve and re-categorize medications. We now have a system where we have overstock stored above on separate shelves with the hopes of being able to rotate our stock more effectively so that medications do not expire on the shelves. Danalyza is just an amazing person to be around. She always has a smile and is pictured above showing love to a sweet little baby in the clinic. She also helped out in the pharmacy and did an amazing job! Thank you Danalyza! 

The Oregon team members that tagged onto the larger medical team were a great assistance. We had Kyle, Paul, and Cameron rotating between triage, labs, and scabies treatments. They also helped to count pills for the pharmacy. The team saw over 800 patients and the dentist pulled close to 200 teeth I believe. If anyone knows of dentists or other medical professionals, please spread the word about the need within the medical clinic in Gramothe, Haiti. We're always looking for people to serve: both medically trained as well as others to assist. Regardless of your skill set, help is always needed!

Our family had an amazing time playing cards in the evening and hanging out with the other teenagers. It has been a life changing experience moving our family to Haiti, but I know the kids miss their friends back home. Everyone was incredibly thankful to have some friends visit us in Haiti. If anyone else would like to visit us in Haiti, please let us know!

It was a blessing to see how passionate the team members were to serve others and to watch how adaptable the teens especially were. Once we're adults, somehow it becomes slightly more challenging to roll with hiking up the mountain and hauling buckets of water in to take a fling bath (bath with a cold bucket of water that you fling on yourself), but the kids/teens don't seem to mind one bit.

Update on the Oregon Team: Three Team Members Stayed in Haiti...Yeah!!

Well, the Oregon team loved Haiti so much, that three team members extended their trip. They decided to stay another week in order to help in much needed roles in the medical clinic. We're blessed that these amazing teenage boys have chosen to give up their time and resources in order to serve the people of Haiti! 

There has been an amazing medical team at the clinic this week. Yesterday we saw 225 patients and the day before there were over 200 as well. It is always incredible to see team members come together and serve. The team has worked well together. Everyone has really just jumped in and served where they were needed. If anyone is ever thinking of joining a team, please contact me! There are no specific skills required- just a willingness to serve.

One of the team members has been praying with each patient individually before they are seen in the medical clinic. There were 14 people that came to the Lord yesterday and 17 people today. People have been coming specially for prayer as well as medical care. Apparently they have been walking up to the village (and it is not a small hike) simply because they heard that someone is praying for people and when he prays, the Lord listens and good things happen. Praise God!

Tearing Down Walls, Building Shelves, Counting Pills, and More Organizing....

We have an amazing Oregon group that has come in to help at Mountain Top Ministries. The group made the trek up the mountain this morning and experienced the incredible goat trail in both directions. They have done an amazing job working on various projects in the clinic.

We were able to tear down a wall in order to make room for more stations to see patients. We're working on building a storage closet as well as shelves. We also continue to organize the inventory. We're getting things ready for the next big medical team that comes in early next week. At the end of the day, we went back to the house and pre-bagged pills for the next medical team. Overall, it was a very productive day and we look forward to a busy day tomorrow!
